Living in New York isn't easy. It's crowded, dirty, and loud. Living in New York during a snowstorm is even worse. Living in New York during a snowstorm and having to walk to school is really bad. I honestly don't understand why our lovely mayor kept public schools open. Is he blind?
By the time I got to school the lower level of the Verrazano bridge was closed and a city bus had tipped over on the avenue near my school. The struggle is real my friends. Out of the 6,000 people in my school only 200 showed up. I'm pretty sure majority of those 200 are the ones striving for perfect attendance, myself included.
Of course living in NYC has many perks, being surrounded by diversity and unique opportunities are two of them.
This winter, amidst all the snow storms, I find myself wearing wool socks more and more. They're really warm and surprisingly soft (I expected them to be scratchy). And the biggest advantage is that when I step in a foot of snow my feet don't automatically turn into icicles. Plus they seem to be in style.
Last Wednesday was World Nutella Day and since then I have been happily (and healthily) indulging in it. So far I have been able to put Nutella on bread, strawberries, crackers, bananas, pancakes, and waffles. Waffles, nutella, and ice cream is my all time favorite combination. But since it's soooo unhealthy I only indulge in it once a while, like Wafels & Dinges.
This past week I've also finished reading Endless Knight by Kresley Cole. If you're into awesome storylines and YA I would definitely recommend reading The Arcana Chronicles. Not only is Kresley Cole the queen of supernatural fiction, but she is also great at creating unique worlds. The Arcana Chronicles is set in an a post-apocalyptic world. I know what you're thinking, but it's NOT just another dystopian novel. The story follows Evie, a survivor of the Flash (aka the apocalypse). Only she's not just any survivor, she's the Empress, the Poison Princess. The apocalypse is actually a setting for a game in which the 24 major Arcana (the Tarot cards) battle each other until only one survives. This battle has been reoccuring for hundreds of years, with each card being reincarnated for the next battle. Except that Evie is different, she isn't as vicious as the past Empresses. She wants to break the cycle.
The first book in the series, Poison Princess, was okay. Evie kind of annoys you with her delicateness and stupidity. BUT at the end she is totally bad ass. Not to mention the super hot leading male, Jackson, and the mysterious and equally hot arcana, Death. The storyline is completely unique and genuine. I seriously think that Kresley Cole is secretly a witch that spells her books because the characters feel so real. The Arcana Chronicles is action packed and unlike many other YA books these days, you can't predict the storyline. I should warn you however that the cliffhangers may kill you. Also the love triangles are done right. You can't tell who Evie will choose.
And last but not the least... Pentatonix. After watching Pitch Perfect I've been fascinated by acappella music. It always amazes me that acapella is entirely composed of human voices. In my opinion PTX is one of the best groups out there. They create the most interesting medleys. Lately I've been listening to their Daft Punk medley and Valentine. You should check them out :)
