Pashmina During the Winter

Usually in New York we only get one or two snowstorms per winter. This year there have been three, with many more to count. My arms have actually gotten toned from shovelling snow.

On the brightside I've been getting rides to school, so I haven't had to walk through all the slush. Snow isn't bad on it's own. It's actually quite pretty. The cold wind on the other hand is treacherous. My entire face becomes tomato red after only 2 minutes of being outside. As a hijabi I would look weird with two scarves on me. So I found that wearing a pashmina scarf is very handy.

Whenever I go out in the snow I pull up the bottom half of my pashmina to cover my face. Usually its tighter and covers my cheeks really nicely. If you try to do this with a normal scarf made of cotton or silk not much warmth is retained. But because pashmina is made up of heavier fabric it keeps me warm and keeps my face from resembling a tomato. I hope everyone else has been having a wonderful winter :)

Peace, Love, and Hijabs,
Niala
