Makeup Mondays: Favorite Lipsticks

I have an unhealthy obsession with buying lipsticks. I have always been obsessed with the little tubes, playing with my mother's vast collection when I was younger. Now that I am older I have begun to develop my own stock of lipsticks. So I decided to share some of my favorites with you!

I have way too many red lipsticks but they're all different shades of red, I swear!

First off, you need to keep your lips healthy and smooth. During the winter my lips get super dry and chapped. Lately I've been reaching for the MALIN+GOETZ Mojito Lip Balm ($12).

The product is completely clear and glides on smoothly. There's no smell or taste to it. It makes your lips feel moisturized and doesn't clump. Nor does it fade (because it's clear) or bleed into the fine lines of your lips. After applying it for a few days my lips were no longer chapped. It's also an ideal base to put on before lipstick, since it smooths out your lips.

Nivea is always good for your lips, and this chap-stick is something that I always carry.

The NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick in Sunflower ($4) has a slight shimmer to it. In person the color is more a bright orangish-red. It's great, but the color wears off very easily. Whenever I wear it I bring it with me for re-application.

This lipstick is actually one I stole from my mother's stash. We always fight over it. It's from L'Oreal Paris' Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in Enduring Berry ($10). I love the color, it's so sweet. This is my go-to lipstick. It matches my warm skin tone and looks very easy/natural. The color lasts very long and the lipstick itself isn't very creamy or slick.

All things matte have been a beauty trend for a while. When I bought Milani's Best Red ($5.50), I wasn't expecting it to be matte. However the effect seems to be there. Matte lipsticks are great because it gives a sort of confidence to your look. Most eyeshadows have a bit of a shimmer to them. When you pair eyeshadow and regular lipstick together, the overall look can be too shiny. Especially on camera. This was also my first red lipstick. I recommend this for anyone looking for a cheap good red lipstick. The color doesn't fade and you don't really need to reapply. You do need lip liner though!

Another red crayon: Be a Bombshell's Hot Damn ($14). It is a lip crayon... therefore the color pigmentation isn't that great. In other words it takes a few times for the color to build up. But once it does it stays on. It has a slight shimmer to it.

Two more lip crayons from Be a Bombshell. Both similar to Hot damn product wise. Color wise, top: Shameless ($14), bottom: Flustered ($16).

The only lip gloss I will use is this POP Beauty Plump Pout Mini in Fuchsia Freesia ($16). It's very shiny so I always pat it down to matte it down. Overall it's a 3 as far as lip products go. The products lasts till the end of time and the color is nice but... it smells bad.

This is the bareMinerals
Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Get Ready ($18). It's awesome and you can read my review here

Last but not the least the Revlon Va Va Violet ($7). I swear to god I tried to get a decent picture of this but they all turned out weird. In person the color is more consistent and solid. It doesn't last very long and like with all bold colors you need to use a lip liner (I didn't in the picture because I was lazy). The only time I wore this in public was for Halloween. It's a very deep and lovely color, hopefully one day I'll find the courage to wear it in public.

Thanks for reading!
Peace, Love, and Hijabs,
Naila <3
